The NHS Federated Data Platform (NHS FDP) is software that enables NHS organisations to bring together operational data – currently stored in separate systems – to support staff to access the information they need in one safe and secure environment.

By streamlining access for healthcare professionals, this reduces the need for multiple logins, resulting in faster, more coordinated care, increased patient choice, and improved health outcomes.

Every hospital trust and integrated care board (on behalf of the integrated care system) will have their own separate instance of the software for which they are the data controller.

A digitised, connected NHS can deliver services more effectively and efficiently with patients at the heart.

You can read more about the NHS FDP on the NHS England website, and find the answers to frequently asked questions.
